If you were curious:
It owns its name because of its smoked color, it's wrong to call it "smoked topaz".
A very dark brown to black opaque variety is known as Morion. (1)
Quartz is the most common of all minerals and accounts for as much as 12% of the volume of the earth's crust!
The name "quartz" comes from the Greek word krustallos, meaning ice, because it was thought that quartz was ice formed by the gods. (2)

  2. I love this! I take so many photos of wrought iron, its so romantic and it inspires me. And I loved all the bikes when I was in Amsterdam... lots of great pics with them!
